On July 2016 I joined my first ship Bunga Angelica at Port Qassim, Pakistan. This is my first time me being onboard and also out of my country, Malaysia. Many feelings were running in my stomach and also my deep cells of the brain. I self-motivate me and console me by looking at the pictures of my mother. So I carry on my journey onboard that chemical ship. This ship build in 2010 and quite good. All crew were very nice and friendly. I'm so lucky to have officers that are willing to guide me as their own brother. They taught me very well regarding cargo operation and navigation.
My first voyage is a long one which takes more than 3 weeks as it goes from the Middle East to china and we were carrying methanol. My chief officer was a good teacher. Why I said so is because he always guide me in making me understand the importance of handling dangerous cargo onboard. The whole crew and the officers like a family members to me.
Putting hands in one another we manage to solve all the problems we faced. The most beautiful part being on this vessel, my captain always encourage me to go shore leaves and see the world. And that opportunity was a good experience.
One small problem I had face during my journey onboard is, at times I use to miss my family. So to overcome this problem, I use to purchase the satellite phone calls to get connect to my beloved ones which are very far from me. At times it feels like not enough talking to them but that is life. I just put one thing in my mind, only the best man goes to sea.
Being a seafarer is not easy and that is true. I’m so proud of where I am standing now. This is the platform where I will change my faith of the family. This is my turning point to show to the world that my mother had raised me good. And I would like to thanks everyone who support me especially my mother, sister and my girlfriend.
