Why Is Sleep Important?
1. Protects our mental and physical health.
Your body spends its time repairing itself while you are asleep. If you do not get enough sleep, your body can't make its necessary repairs.
2. Lack of sleep can cause illness.
A constant lack of sleep can cause heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, and much more.
3. Your body can't function to its full potential without adequate sleep.
With a lack of sleep, you will become less productive throughout the day. You will become drowsy and not be able to function at your full potential.
4. College students should get eight to nine hours of sleep per night.
College students especially should get about eight to nine hours of sleep each night. If you sleep after you study, your brain will retain more information.
5. "Catching up on sleep" isn't a thing.
Once the damage has been done, it has been done. You can't go back and catch up on sleep.
