Finally Radar modular have finished and now we are in the last week of modular which is ARPA week. A big relief after all of us passed the Radar exam. Arpa now came with a quite interesting subject. Automatic Radar Plotting Aids is the full word for ARPA.
There is teory to learn in the ARPA but then we get to get familiar with the usage of ecdis, radar with the aid of arpa and also the simulation system. First day itself we got to navugate the ship and learn the usage of the Radar for basic things. This things will be helpful for those who have not experienced in the ship before.
And on the second day , we had the chamce to navigate the ship near Singapore Straits. The route was west bond. We had three person in the group for each station and each station were given a bulk carrier vessel and a passage plan in the straits.
One of the represent Captain of the ship and the other was officer on the watch while the other was the cadet who learning to steer the ship. This was the situation we brought ourselves in order to make the situation real. We use the experience that we have during omboard ship and we use it in this exercise. It turn out good and no collision was made.
This was fun and i hope thise junior who have no onboard experience, can come have a look on this simulation to have a basic knowledge of how we navigate the ship and ghe situation in the bridge during manoeuvring.
