In the recent years, streetwear has been on an uprising throughout the nation and across the globe. There has always been attention or 'Hype' focused mainly on Sneakers, however a lot of clothing labels have been generating a lot of hype as well. Now, local Malaysian brands are jumping on the trend as well.
One brand in particular that has been on the front line of this movement is Pestle & Mortar Clothing. P&M was established in 2010 by 3 friends living in Kuala Lumpur with limited designs and consisted of t- shirts only. Seven years later they are a well established brand in South East Asia with multiple collections and collaborations with international street wear brands.
While P&M may be the front runner in this subject matter, many other brands are jumping onboard as well, all with their own personal style and aesthetic. Notable brands are:
1)The Swagger Salon
2)RARE Clothing

Streetwear has practically embedded itself into everyday fashion that it can't really be considered out of the norm anymore. Call it overrated, overpriced mainstream or whatever all you want but local streetwear brands stand out for being rich in design and caters to the needs of the youths today.
